The Gift of Space
Transport for London (TFL) wanted to run a large communications exercise over several months that would have required extensive use of external venues and associated audio visual costs. The redevelopment of an unused TFL space in Earls Court was undertaken to transform it into an area for training, meetings & conferences.
Previously used as a signal repair centre, the space was left neglected for several years. TFL was using external hotel rooms and venues when it occurred to them that this unused space could become a centrally located and viable venue. With the aim of saving money and making the most of this space (which was scheduled to be totally redeveloped in a few years’ time anyway) TFL decided to renovate the space in to a useful training area.
As a result the underground site was converted into a functional area for meetings and training with a capacity for 150 delegates. The process took just six weeks from initial contact to delivered trainer ready site. The successful renovation saved TFL huge outgoings in hotel and venue fees for the first year alone, and was used for a total of three years before the site was eventually redeveloped.
