National Grid Auditorium

The very first Toolshed Communications project was with the National Grid, the operator of the UK’s electricity and natural gas networks – not a bad way for us to start. The company connects consumers to energy through their number of networks.

National Grid’s Hinckley site is the head office and is home to their Gas Distribution. The site includes a contact centre and the network operations and strategy functions that support the company’s four gas distribution networks in West Midlands, North West, East of England and North London.

As part of National Grid’s redevelopment of the Hinckley offices, a space was created to use as an auditorium for the company to use for hosting meetings and conferences. Toolshed were contacted to deliver the project management, design, bespoke in-house space planning, visualisation and CAD drawings, AV supply and installation.

Toolshed worked alongside National Grid’s construction contractor who was used to develop the necessary building works based on our plans and visuals presented in the CAD drawings. Once the building work was completed, all of the required cabling, technical and control equipment was installed by ourselves.

The space was redesigned as a dedicated presentation theatre for up to 150 delegates at a time. Since its formation the better use of space has given the National Grid plenty of opportunities to save money on hiring meeting spaces.
